Dreams.  Black Bean Bacon Vegan Burger from Good Health Cafe on the Upper East Side.  “An earthy flavor burger with crispy veggie bacon strips, peppers, Portobello, onions, guacamole, dairy-free sour cream and vegan mayo BBQ sauce.”  My favorite lunch pick!

How do you say it?  I’m vegan.  I’m a veganite.  I recently converted to veganism.  I’ve given up meat and dairy.  I’ve given up animal food.
I’m not sure which one fits, but I’m working on it.
Last month, I decided to try the vegan lifestyle/foodstyle.  I saw I was gaining some extra poundage and needed a way to stop ordering whatever I want off the restaurant menu.  Being vegan, I found/find I have to order something pretty healthy every time I go out for food.  It sounds crazy, but it’s the only way I can control myself.
So that’s how this whole thing started.  And I soon learned that being vegan is actually pretty awesome.  1) I don’t eat as much crap.  2) I focus on eating food that is high in necessary vitamins. 3) I’m rarely tired and have way more energy. 4) I’m cooking.
Join me on my journey through veganhood/veganland/veganville.  The photo attached is a vegan carrot muffin from one of my favorite cafes — Sweetleaf (in Long Island City, NY).  The Sweetleaf bakers make incredible desserts right there on the premises, and there is always a wide array of vegan options.
